Practical Analysis for Business Decisions

This isn't about memorizing formulas. We focus on understanding how financial data tells the story of a business—its strengths, risks, and opportunities.

Each week brings new datasets from different industries. You'll spot patterns, ask better questions, and learn to present findings in ways that non-financial stakeholders can understand.

  • Reading Financial Statements

Move beyond surface numbers to understand what balance sheets and income statements reveal about company health and operational efficiency

  • Ratio Analysis in Context

Learn which ratios matter for different business types and how to compare companies fairly within their specific market conditions

  • Cash Flow Assessment

Understand why profitable companies sometimes fail and how to spot warning signs by tracking actual cash movement patterns

  • Industry Benchmarking

Compare performance against sector averages and learn to identify which variations signal problems versus normal business cycles

How Skills Develop Over Time

Past participants have shared how their capabilities evolved through the program. These timelines reflect typical experiences, though everyone progresses at their own pace.

Weeks 8–12

Independent Analysis

Saskia Pemberton completed her capstone by analyzing three competing firms in the logistics sector. She identified growth opportunities that weren't obvious from revenue figures alone. Six months after graduating, she used similar analysis in her role at a Melbourne consultancy.

Six Months Post-Program

Continued Growth

Alistair Carmody reported that the analytical framework stayed with him. He now reviews supplier financials before major contracts and has caught potential issues that saved his company from risky partnerships. The skills became part of his regular decision-making process.
